O you who have Imaan! Fear Allah and stay with the truthful
This Aayat-e-Kareema is often repeated, and we all listen to it being recited. May Allah Ta’ala bring the reality of it into our lives! In this verse, Allah Ta’ala addresses the believers, the people of Imaan. Alhamdulillah, we were given Imaan without any sacrifice, so to say in the plate, whilst Rasulullah Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam and the Sahaaba had to undergo great sacrifices for this Imaan. Some Sahaaba had to separate from their families, whilst others had to leave their hometown purely for the sake of Deen. If a person’s wife refused to accept Islam, then he would end the marriage even though he loved her and there were children involved. We should therefore appreciate the Imaan which Allah Ta’ala has blessed us with.
The Hijrat of Rasulullah Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam was yet another great sacrifice. The travel from Makkah Sharif to Madinah Sharif was a lengthy journey, the enemy were in search of Rasulullah Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam . We get exhausted and tired whilst travelling by bus or car. Those were the days when they would travel by camel which itself is quite difficult.
Then they had to face the enemies, which comprised of the Jews, the hypocrites, the alliance of the enemies, and to combat them many battles were fought. At the same time, they underwent extreme poverty. All these sacrifices were made so that Islam becomes alive. We on the other hand got Islam on the plate, but this Imaan needs to be refreshed regularly and this is the objective of having these Majalis.
OBJECTIVE OF KNOWLEDGE
At the same time, we should preserve our Imaan, take care of it, and we beseech of Allah Ta’ala to keep us with Imaan and take us with Imaan. There is a Malfooz of Hadrat Maulana Ilyaas R.A, wherein he states that our knowledge should spur us onto amal. If the knowledge does not take us onto Amal then it is sheer darkness. Amal is supposed to bring the consciousness of Allah Ta’ala within a person. The consciousness of Allah Ta’ala is supposed to be created through Salaah, Zikr, Tilaawat of the Quraan Sharif, etc. If one does not acquire the consciousness of Allah Ta’ala, then either the Amal being carried out is extremely weak or non-existent. The consciousness of Allah Ta’ala will protect a person from sin. Further Hadrat explains, even though a person may have acquired the consciousness of Allah Ta’ala, it is only knowledge (referring to basic knowledge) that will guide a person through the various stages of his life. For example, there are two options for carrying out good, which one should opt for.
We should read some basic Kitaabs of Fiqh, then refresh that which we have read regularly and make Amal upon it. This will bring the consciousness of Allah c into a person, and this is what will assist a person when faced with temptation.
For this, we have been commanded to remain with the Saadiqeen (those that are truthful in their Taqwa). The Sahaaba remained in the company of Rasulullah Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam . What was the condition of Sahaaba prior to Islam, but when they stayed and acquired knowledge from Rasulullah Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam , and thereafter made Amal and acquired the consciousness of Allah Ta’ala, they became shining stars and guides for mankind. May Allah Ta’ala bless us as well.
